Esther graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2001 and started as a junior physiotherapist in Cardiff and Vale UHB shortly afterwards.

After then working for several years as a senior physio, she took up a role as a rheumatology specialist physiotherapist in 2014 and has worked alongside the rheumatology consultants and specialist occupational therapists and podiatrists, requesting bloods and imaging as part of the role. She has also been an integral part of running the Ankylosing Spondylitis Service over the years and has extensive experience in treating complex patients. She has a diploma in the Management of Rheumatological Conditions from EULAR.

Esther is a proficient hydrotherapist, having delivered hydrotherapy twice a week for many years prior to the pool closing due to Covid restrictions. She has experience working in various different settings within the physiotherapy service, including Occupational Health, First Contact physiotherapy and Trauma and Orthopaedics, and most recently gaining experience performing remote consultations during the pandemic. With a career in the NHS totally over 20 years, Esther has a lot of physio experience!

Just prior to the pandemic, Esther began teaching Pilates, having gained her Level 1 and 2 APPI qualifications, and is shortly to be completing her Level 3. She has used Pilates regularly during her physiotherapy career, and finds it a great way to rehab patients. During the pandemic she developed some short Pilates videos for patients which have been used widely in Cardiff and Vale UHB, and continue to be a popular resource.

When Esther isn’t teaching Pilates, she enjoys getting out walking in the countryside or at the beach with her family. Gower is one of her favourite places to be! She also swims regularly for fitness, and also to help entertain her two active children!
